At the moment this is one of the few reminders that it’s summer here in Sydney. With the low temperatures, cloudy skies and rain it is difficult to believe it is a week until Christmas! The smell of gardenias is another reminder of childhood. We had an enormous bush planted just outside our backdoor and in the summer it was laden with these beautiful white rich smelling flowers. The smell is reminiscent  of the carefree summers of our childhood. My parents first house, the family home I grew up in was newly built and ready for them to move into on their return from their honeymoon. They planted the garden surrounding the house which flourished from their love and care year in year out. It was not only the garden that benefited from their nurturing, the three of us my brother, sister and did too. Thank you Mum and Dad!
